The Worthy Supreme Knight of the Knight of St. Mulumba, Nigeria (KSM), Sir Steve Adehi (SAN), has called on members of the Order to embody the true spirit of Easter by embracing sacrifice and charity. In an Easter message titled “Christ is Risen! Alleluia!”, Sir Adehi urged Knights and Ladies to renew their commitment to these noble ideals.
“I urge you, dear Brothers and Sisters, to renew with firm resolve the noble ideals of sacrifice and charity; the sacrifice of time in the pursuit of formation, the sacrifice of resources in service to the poor, the sacrifice of reputation in defence of truth, and the sacrifice of comfort in the fulfilment of mission.”
Sir Adehi emphasized the importance of practicing the Corporal Works of Mercy and maintaining the Order’s reputation for proper organization. He encouraged members to ensure their charity is “organised, purposeful, and far-reaching, extending beyond our immediate circles to all Nigerians of goodwill, and addressing not only immediate needs but also the root causes of human suffering, always with profound respect for the dignity of the human person.”
As Easter people, Sir Adehi noted, members are called to be witnesses of the Resurrection in their families, parishes, workplaces, communities, and nation. He expressed appreciation for their discipline and fasting during Lent, and reminded them that Easter affirms that sacrifice offered in fidelity to Christ is never in vain.
Since its formation in 1953, the KSM has held charity support during the Easter season in high esteem, a tradition that has been kept, nurtured, and developed over time.
