The President of the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, (Special Jurisdiction), Umuakali, Naze, Lady Felicia Agoha, has called on parishioners and stakeholders to support the construction of a new church building.

Lady Agoha made the appeal on Sunday while delivering her welcome address during the 2026 Mother’s Day celebration held at the church during the 9am Mass.

Speaking on the theme, “True Love in Action,” she said the period called for practical expressions of love towards the parish, particularly through support for the ongoing building project.

“Our major project now is the new church building,” she said. “This is a responsibility for all stakeholders in Umuakali and the Naze Catholic community. If we truly love our church, we must show it through our support for this project.”

She added that the organisation would continue its support for the priest-in-charge and seminarians, alongside its responsibilities at the archdiocesan level.

The foundation of the new church building was laid on March 12, 2026, and efforts have since been intensified to mobilise support for its completion. The Mother’s Day celebration, the first major event after the foundation was laid, provided a platform to reinforce the appeal.

In her vote of thanks, Chairperson of the 2026 Mother’s Day Planning Committee, Eziada Grace Ajoku, expressed appreciation to parishioners and groups for their support towards the success of the event.

She thanked the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Cornelius Ogbonna, for his guidance, as well as members of the CWO executive, the Catholic Men Organisation, CYON, the Mary League, the awardees and other parishioners for their contributions.

The celebration not only showcased the unity and commitment of the women but also strengthened the collective resolve of the parish community to achieve a befitting place of worship.
