Knight of St. Mulumba Owerri Metro Council Honours Sir John Oleru

The Owerri Metropolitan Council of the Knight of St. Mulumba (KSM) has honoured one of her Worthy Brothers, Sir John Chukwuemeka Eke Oleru for his dedication, commitment and exemplary life as a member of the Order.

Sir John Oleru, an ardent Catholic and former Catechist at the Maria Assumpta Cathedral received the award during the reception organized for the 127 members of the Order who were elevated as 4th Degree Knights at the Maria Assumpta Cathedral Owerri.

Speaking during the presentation, the Supreme Knight of the Order, Sir Charles Mbelede who presented the award on behalf of the Owerri Metro Council described the sole awardee as one man who was not just committed to the Order in his individual capacity, but has also made Catholicism a perfect way of raising his family.

Blessed with seven children , five men and two women, Sir John Oleru who joined the Order on 27th of September 1987 has a Catholic Priest as one of his sons while the remaining four are all members of the Order of Knight of St. Mulumba.

His first son Brother Paschal Oleru joined the Order on July 13th, 2019, his second son Bro. Augustine Oleru joined in 2013, his third son joined in 2020 while his last son, Bro. Martin Oleru joined in 2017.

His only son who is not a Knight, Fr Bernard I. Oleru was ordained as a Priest 18 years ago in the Order of the Missionary of St. Paul and he is currently the Chaplain Ks Columbus USA.

In his commendation about the awardee, the Metro Grand Knight of Owerri Metro Council Sir Eva Njemanze urged other brothers who witnessed the event to take a cue from the Worthy Brother and lead their families in the direction of the faith
