National Chairman of the National Rescue Movement, Chinedu Obi, has called for a comprehensive reset of Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections, citing the nation’s growing insecurity, economic hardship and social instability.
Prince Dr. Chinedu Obi, popularly known as Ohamadike, who also serves as Director-General of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, made the remarks on Thursday while reflecting on his 61st birthday and the state of the nation.
Speaking in a chat with our correspondent, the NRM chieftain said the country must urgently chart a new course capable of restoring hope and rebuilding confidence among Nigerians.
“My heart is filled with profound gratitude to Almighty God for His unfailing mercy, abundant grace, enduring goodness, and steadfast faithfulness throughout the journey of my life,” he said.
He noted that beyond the personal significance of attaining the age of 61, his major concern remains the future of Nigeria and the need for transformational leadership ahead of the next electoral cycle.
“Today is significant, but the most important thing for me is that we reset Nigeria to build a new hope for our teeming population. That is what I want and the only thing I want to reflect on as I add another year today,” he stated.
Reflecting on his life journey and leadership philosophy, Ohamadike described turning 61 as a testament to divine grace, perseverance and purpose.
“Sixty-one years is not merely a passage of time; it is a testimony of divine preservation, guidance, strength, and purpose,” he said.
According to him, the challenges and uncertainties encountered over the years have strengthened his faith and reinforced the values of resilience, humility and service to humanity.
“Through every season — the victories and the trials, the moments of clarity and uncertainty, the mountains and the valleys — God has remained constant, directing my paths and sustaining me with His mighty hand,” he added.
The IPAC Director-General further stressed that leadership must be anchored on integrity, compassion and commitment to national development, noting that Nigeria requires purposeful leadership capable of addressing the aspirations of its growing population.
“At 61, I remain strong in faith, focused on purpose, hopeful in vision, and committed to living a life of impact, integrity, service, and gratitude,” he said.
He also expressed appreciation to family members, associates, mentors, colleagues and supporters who have stood by him over the years, while praying for continued wisdom, good health and greater opportunities to contribute meaningfully to society.
Recall that in Ohamadike has always stated that the National Rescue Movement (NRM) is the only political party in Nigeria with the word “Rescue”, and this is a clear indication that the party is on the mission of rescuing Nigerians from the current state.
