The Alumni lost Sir Gerald leaving PH Chapter in tears. A strong member. a loyal follower and a former national auditor of the FUTO Alumni Association. These are some Associational quality of Sir Gerald Chimezie Ndionyenma Onwuekweikpe. He has since been buried but the alumni will remember his sacrifice.

BIRTH

Late SIR GERALD CHIMEZIE ND1ONYENMA ONWUEKWEIPKE was born on October 15, 1962, into the family of Late Pa Linus Isaiah Onwuekweikpe Ekechukwu and Mrs. Annagrace Elunma Onwuekweikpe, in Eziala Nneise Ihitte in Ezinihitte Mbaise, Imo State. He was the first child and first son of the family.

EDUCATION – Sir Gerald

Late SIR GERALD CHINEZIE NDIONYENMA ONWUEKWEIPKE was a lover of education and knowledge. He made sure everyone close to him attended formal education. He loved reading books and he was versatile in various fields of human endeavors.

SIR GERALD started his Elementary School at the age of 9 at Town School Ihitte before taking Common Entrance Examination which enabled him to gain admission into the prestigious Pater-Noster Secondary School, Ekwereazu Ahiazu Mbaise. He completed his Junior Secondary School, coming out with distinctions. Afterwards, he proceeded to Community Secondary Schoo, Obizi in Ezinihitte Mbaise, in the year 1980. Again, he completed and obtained his Senior School Certificate. Sir Gerald wrote JAMB and got admission into the prestigious Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO). He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Geology. Sir Gerald further attended the University of Port (UNIPORT) Where he obtained an MSc in Petroleum Engineering in 1994.

WORK-LIFE

After his secondary School, Late SIR GE CHIMEZIE NDIONYENMA ONWUEKWEIPKE to Lagos in search of a greener pasture with his uncle. He eventually got a job at Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Press. Through his few of work, he saved enough money for his tertiary education. After graduating from higher institution, he moved to Port Harcourt where he stayed with his elder cousin. Sir Gerald secured an employment with Shell Petroleum and Development Company (SPDC) in the year 1990 as a Production Geologist and Seismologist. He was in this role from 1990 to 1995 and later worked as a Seismic Database Geologist, from 1995 to 1998.

In April 1998, he commenced work with the Nigerian Agip Company, Port Harcourt, as a Senior Petroleum Geologist before working again in SPDC from 2001 to 2008 as the Senior Production/Reservoir Geologist and Principal Production/Reservoir Geologist from 2008 to 2014. Thereafter, Sir Gerald later set up his own company known as Baenern Nigeria Limited.  He grew the company successfully in 2014. The company was used to affect the lives of many people positively. Eventually, he fell ill in 2019. an illness he struggled with until his death.
