The best graduating student of the Department of Maritime Management Technology at the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) in the 20172018 academic session has recently completed her MSc at a Polish university.
Onyi Jane Ogwo, who got a resounding CGPA of 4.90 at FUTO in the then session and was made to present the valedictory speech on behalf of her colleagues, recently finished at the Poznan University of
Technology in Poland.
When our correspondent prompted Onyi to speak about her recent Masters’s Degree programme and craved to know if she also emerged as the best, her reply was simple.
“I am not the overall best graduating student” she started. “There wasn’t such a thing anyway,” she concluded.
Perhaps, if there were something like that, Onyi would have proved a point as she had proved herself back in Nigeria when she did not just emerge as the best graduate in FUTO, but the overall best graduating student in the Maritime Technology department in Nigeria.
Recall that she recently concluded her Masters’s Degree programme at Poznan University was facilitated by a scholarship package put in place by Elkins Marine.
She was also offered training by Elkins Marine on two maritime courses and five other maritime courses of her choice.
With her feats and accomplishments, Onyi Jane Ogwo remains a model of what the girl-child could become in a nation where there is fear that academics are not really given the right frame by the present government of the day.
