Scotland’s most decorated Commonwealth Games and Olympic athlete, Duncan Scott OBE has been announced as an Official Ambassador for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Making his Commonwealth Games debut at the Glasgow 2014 Games, the swimming star won his first Commonwealth medal at just 17 years old in the 4x200m freestyle relay. He has since become a legend of the Games, picking up six medals at Gold Coast 2018 in Australia and a further six at Birmingham 2022, making him Scotland’s most decorated Commonwealth Games athlete ever.
If that wasn’t enough, he has also etched his name into the Olympic history books. At Tokyo 2020, Duncan added four medals to his Olympic collection – more than any other British athlete at a single Olympic Games – and simultaneously became Great Britain’s most decorated swimmer in Olympic history.
An additional gold and silver in Paris in 2024 saw Scott add ‘Scotland’s most decorated Olympian’ to his long list of accolades.
Beyond the podiums, Duncan is fiercely passionate about ensuring all children have the opportunity to build confidence in the water and has become a role model for the next generation of swimmers. Scott brings his wealth of experience and passion for sport to this new role where he will be a leading figure for the Glasgow 2026 Games.
Speaking on his appointment, Scott said: “I was incredibly lucky to swim in front of a home crowd at Glasgow 2014 and the chance to do that once again next summer fills me with immense pride. The Glasgow crowd is legendary, and I know that they will bring an incredible energy in the pool, creating an unforgettable atmosphere for all the athletes.
“I’m honoured to be named a Games Ambassador for Glasgow 2026 and can’t wait to play my part in making it an unforgettable celebration of sport.”
Scott’s appointment marks another significant milestone in the countdown to 11 days of world-class action in Summer 2026, where Glasgow will once again take centre stage on the global sporting map.
