The Imo State University Alumni Association (IMSUAA) is set to host its second edition of the Homecoming/Convention, scheduled to take place from August 14th to 17th, 2025, in Owerri. In a significant development, Ikukuoma, the founder of EdithNwosu Healthcare Foundation, has rolled out a medical outreach program as part of the event. This initiative is a testament to Ikukuoma’s commitment to giving back to the community that nurtured her before coming to the limelight.
Ikukuoma’s Foundation, EHFC, has a proven track record of providing free medical outreach in communities within the South-East and South-South regions, covering states such as Cross River, Edo, Delta, Abia, Imo, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Ondo, which accounts for about 25% of Nigeria’s population. It is, therefore, not surprising that she has deemed it fit to extend this gesture to the academic community, specifically the Imo State University Alumni Association.

The medical outreach program, scheduled to take place on Friday, August 15th, 2025, from 8am to 12 noon at the IMSU Auditorium, will offer free blood sugar checks, counseling, and medication to attendees. As part of the sensitization program released earlier, EHFC has highlighted the risks of uncontrolled blood sugar levels, which can lead to short-term effects such as hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and hyperglycemia (high blood sugar). The long-term effects of uncontrolled blood sugar levels are equally alarming, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, nerve damage, kidney damage, vision problems, and foot damage.
The Foundation’s proactive approach to health awareness is commendable, and the medical outreach program is expected to benefit members of IMSUAA significantly. By providing an opportunity for members to check their blood sugar levels and receive counseling and medication where necessary, the foundation is taking a crucial step towards promoting health and wellness among the alumni community.
While it will be recalled that the first edition of the IMSUAA Homecoming/Convention in 2016 never received this gesture from EHFC then, that was because Ikukuoma has not joined the Association. The IMSUAA 2025 Homecoming/Convention which promises to be an exciting and enriching experience will benefit from it as it focuses on health, unity, and celebration.
As the event approaches, members of the alumni association can look forward to a memorable experience that will foster connections, promote health, and celebrate the community’s spirit.
