It’s a piece of happy news for us as Mike Ogbalu moves to drive the payment system for African with Afrexim. He rose more step higher on the ladder of success. Mike joins Afrexim Bank as the head of the Pan African Payment Settlement System.

Mike Ogbalu111 has been the most excellent example of success. Prior to his appointment as the CEO of verve international, Mike Ogbalu served as the divisional Chief executive officer at Interswitch financial inclusion service. He successfully increased the availability of digital financial services with Quickteller PayPoint. With this, he crossed the 10,000  agent milestone in its first year of operation.

Mike Ogbalu

Mike is an Electrical/Electronic Engineer from the Prestigious Federal University of Technology Owerri, Imo State. He is a fellow of the International Academy of Cards and Payment, with an MBA from the prestigious Lagos Business School. Mike has a strong affinity for business development, product research, IT strategy design and support. He has over 7 years of sound IT industry experience and several years of retail banking experience covering technology planning, deployment and management of enterprise-wide infrastructure, Remittances, Retail product sales, Electronic Banking, Product Management and Project Management. With participation ranging from team member to group leadership.

A few Achievements

Significant achievement includes managing the implementation of Visa range of card products in a record 3-month time frame. He played a leadership role in UBA’s e-banking infrastructure consolidation and impressive management of a small business group profit centre. Mike also played a strong role in the repositioning of UBA’s Cashfast money transfer and MoneyGram products to achieve industry leadership. In Ecobank Nigeria, Mike managed the e-banking portfolio which covers Credit, Debit and Prepaid card issuing. This line also included Channel Acquiring, Mobile Payments, Internet banking, and Alert services. From here, Mike moved to build the most successful Mobile Money service in Nigeria and indeed Africa.

Mike Ogbalu III is a member of the FUTO Alumni Association. We sincerely believe that this move to Afrexim will inspire many young minds and create bigger opportunities for Africa.
