Engr. Professor Laz. Uzoechi has been re-elected for a second term as the National President of the Federal University of Technology Owerri Alumni Association (FUTOAA), following an uncontested election. The election, held during the association’s Annual General Meeting on August 17, 2025, also saw the re-election of other key executive members and the election of the Board of Trustees (BOT).
During the election, which took place at the Immaculate Excellence Hotel in Owerri, Prof. Uzoechi was the sole candidate for the presidency. He received 33 votes out of 38 accredited delegates, securing his second three-year term. The 38 delegates represented eight chapters: Abuja, Bayelsa, Enugu, Aba, Delta, Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Owerri.
Others executive members who are to work with him are Engr. Obasi Chigozie (National Vice President), Engr. Inuaeyen Inuaeyen (National Secretary), Okonkwo Humphrey (National Assistant Secretary), Comrade Efe Fuludu (Financial Secretary), Chukwuemeka Ifeanyi (Internal Auditor), Okocha Bayson (Director of Socials), Ochulor Okebugwo (PRO), and Augustine Akagi (Provost).
Board of Trustees (BOT): Engineer Chibuike Achigbu was elected chairman of the Board with 32 votes. Other elected members include Dr. Victor Ijeh (30 votes), Engr. Dr. Ajenakewe Samuel (30 votes), Nwaneke Samuel Chukwemeka (30 votes), Kingsley A. Chikwendu (31 votes), Chinedu Okpareke (30 votes), and Engr. Innocent Ikpamege (30 votes).
The newly elected officials were sworn in immediately, with their terms commencing at once.
