Every association and every people coming together must have a simple basis of coexistent and relationship either written or unwritten. It must be fluid, empathic, realistic, fair, and futuristic. This is called a Constitution. It is with these simple visions that the FUTO Alumni Association commits to make for herself a rule book.

All the Chapters of the Association review the first draft of the constitution and submitted to the committee. The NEC met in August at Enugu to look at the first draft from where the second draft came out. This recent draft is what the October Convention will review and adopt. This is serious! It is our future!
The Convention
As the non-elective convention of the FUTO Alumni Association approaches, much is expected from every member to see the success of the constitution adoption. Our people have a role to play to achieve the overall objectives at this convention. The 1st Vice President, Chinedu Anyanwu, outlines a few of what we will see the new rule do for us
- Enacting an enabling rule that will enable us grow as an association
- Adopting a constitution with provisions that clearly guides us on modalities for establishment of BOT.
- With the new constitution, provisions are made such that the Alumni will have effective representation at the governing council.
- The new constitution has ample provisions aimed at strengthening the structure and existence of chapters for greater reach and effectiveness.
- It provides for improved modalities for elections and National Convention rules.
- Internal dispute resolution modalities to stamp out rivalry and promote unity.
The success of this exercise requires a lot of sacrifice from our people at the Convention and to contribute financially. We all have been sacrificing a lot, financially and otherwise. But this important exercise calls for more.
Chinedu adds that
The upcoming convention requires funding. Ordinarily, we should take money from the coffers of the Association to conduct the convention but we all know the status of our account. The way to go under the prevailing circumstances is that the activities of the Alumni, including the upcoming convention, should be funded through the contribution of members.
Support
The Charmian of the Convention Planning Committee, Dr. Laz Uzoechi, estimates that the Convention will require N1.5m for successful execution. We do believe that our noble members, across all chapters, will answer our call to raise the fund to execute this exercise.
There is no better time to set this legacy.
