For Chioma Okorie who was the treasurer of the Lagos Chapter until she died, the loss was a deep one. Chioma has been an officer for many years from one office to the other. Every election, the members want her to remain. She radiates smiles, care, and dedication to people.

The National Vice President of the Alumni Association of FUTO puts it well in this tribute

Tribute to a fallen alumnus – Chioma Okorie

Chioma was a very active member of FUTO Alumni Association. Her commitment and level of participation were outstanding that there is no active member of the association that does not know her. She was known to always devote herself to matters of welfare of members. She understood that we should all be there for each other. Chioma used to take charge and ensure that gift item are provided and presented to members at their weddings and on similar social events. She used to happily take charge of welfare at meetings, weddings, events of any type, etc. Chioma liked to serve because she saw that there is dignity in the privilege of serving others. For her, service to the alumni was service to humanity. Hence, this was the virtue she exhibited in the various capacities she worked as an executive member.

Chioma was an easy-going person that associated freely and respectfully with every other member. She was a team player, always eager to assume any responsibility assigned to her. By virtue of her demise, we have lost a friend, a comrade, and a sister. She was a graduate of the Industrial Chemistry department and a banker.

Chioma’s sudden exit occurred while she was in active service, as Treasurer, FUTO Alumni, Lagos Chapter. Service to the Alumni; service to our alma mater.

It is with a deep sense of loss that we bid Chioma farewell. We pray God grant her soul eternal rest. May God grant her family the fortitude to bear the loss. Amen.

Rest in peace Chioma Okorie. God loves you more.
