The Worthy Grand Knight of Assumpta Sub-Council, Sir (Dr.) Cajetan Ohiri, has reaffirmed the council’s commitment to attaining greater heights in its mission of service to God and humanity through the Order of the Knights of St. Mulumba Nigeria (KSM).
Sir Ohiri made the pledge during the blessing and unveiling of the council’s newly acquired missionary bus on Saturday, June 21, 2026, inside Mulumba premises along Wethral, Owerri.

The event commenced with a Holy Mass celebrated by the representative of the Worthy Chaplain of Assumpta Sub-Council, Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Cletus Eboh, who offered prayers for the successful use of the vehicle in advancing the council’s evangelical and humanitarian activities.
Speaking shortly after the commissioning, Sir Ohiri expressed profound gratitude to God and members of the council whose financial contributions and unwavering support made the project a reality.
“I am delighted because this is a major capital project and it was not easy to accomplish,” he said. “Many sub-councils aspire to undertake projects of this magnitude, but I thank God for blessing us with committed members who embraced the vision and supported it wholeheartedly from inception to completion.”
The Grand Knight described the acquisition of the bus as a significant milestone in the history of the sub-council and a legacy project that would benefit future administrations.

According to him, the achievement should not be seen as the destination but as a foundation for greater accomplishments.
“We look forward to further improvements beyond this project. Progress is a continuous process, and there is always room to do more,” he said. “We cannot afford to become complacent. We will continue striving for excellence until the end of this administration and beyond, trusting that succeeding administrations will build on what has been achieved with even greater zeal and commitment.”
Also speaking, Chairman of the Bus Procurement and Maintenance Committee, Sir Christian Offor, highlighted some of the challenges encountered during the execution of the project, particularly the prevailing economic difficulties in the country.
“We faced numerous challenges, especially the economic hardship affecting the nation, but we remained focused on our goal,” Offor said. “We are grateful to our members whose generous contributions during the 2025 harvest year made this achievement possible.”

He described the bus as a symbol of progress and a stepping stone to even greater projects in the future.
“This bus represents one tangible achievement we can proudly call our own. It provides a solid foundation upon which we can build and pursue even more impactful initiatives for the council and the Church,” he added.
Established on September 27, 1990, Assumpta Sub-Council has remained one of the leading sub-councils within the Order. The council earned recognition as the Best Managed Sub-Council in 2001 and has continued to distinguish itself through projects and initiatives that advance the mission and ideals of the Knights of St. Mulumba Nigeria.
The commissioning of the missionary bus marks another significant chapter in the council’s history and underscores its commitment to strengthening evangelization, community service and the welfare of its members.
